Michelle Knight graduated with a BA (hons) from the Wolverhampton School of Art, which included a student exchange to New York. She went on to take up a post graduate position at the Cyprus college of art. A well established artist and arts educator, her work has been shown in many galleries throughout the UK. Having spent time working in studios in Edinburgh, rural Argyll and Cromarty, she now works in a garden studio at her home in rural Inverness-shire. Greatly inspired by nature, the environment and landscape, Michelle utilises a number of different mediums in her work, including watercolour, ink, charcoal, pastel and acrylic. Out in the landscape, she gathers as much information as possible in the form of sketches and small colour studies. For Michelle, this  is an important part of achieving a sense of place. “There seems no substitute for a wee drawing, and annotations at the time, just the gesture, a direct response to the subject is so informative when it comes to creating work in the studio.”
