William Brian Miller was born in Glasgow in 1956. He later moved east to take up a place at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, graduating in 1981. Shortly after this he received the Greenshields award for emerging artists, the prize for which he used to live and paint in France and Spain. In the mid-eighties, William took a lecturing post at Angus College, and in 1990 he developed and delivered the first art college folio preparation course in the newly formed art department. Although William left the college in 1999, the course still runs today.
William now lives by the sea in Johnshaven, a location that rekindled his desire to paint again and, after teaching art and design for more than 30 years, William has finally turned his attention to painting full time. He regularly exhibits throughout the U.K and has work in private collections in the U.K, France, U.S.A and New Zealand.
