Born in Glasgow in 1956, moving east to take up a place at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, graduating in 1981. Shortly after he received the Greenshields award which was used to live and paint in France and Spain.
In the mid-eighties, he took a lecturing job at Angus College and in 1990 he developed and delivered the first art college folio preparation course in the newly formed art department. Although Brian left the college in 1999 the course still runs today.
Brian is now living by the sea in Johnshaven, which has rekindled the desire to paint again along with working as a part time secondary art teacher, painting has continued to be his main occupation. At the end of June 2016, after teaching art and design for 30 years he will become a full-time painter. He regularly exhibits throughout the U.K and has work in private collections in the U.K, France, U.S.A and New Zealand.
