we live in a fluid environment
oak sculpture
33.0 x 9.0 cm

The piece is inspired by the pitchstone columns that make up the Sgurr of Eigg; a familiar West-coast landmark and remnant of a lava flow that filled a prehistoric valley, now mostly disappeared due to millions of years of erosion.

Hand-made from oak, an important maritime material that is shaped by and responds to atmospheric conditions, the piece attempts to make connections between geological processes, the living environment and our own place in the world.
