katherine castle

Working directly from a subject is what drives Katherine's creativity. Immediate responses to landscape, seascape and the changing weather and seasons are her main subjects. Using mixed media allows Katherine to be expressive and experimental, often using physical elements of nature within her work

Now living and working in St Ives, the Cornish coast naturally has a huge influence on this artist's work. A brief time spent on the edge of the Peak District, and more than 20 years on the west coast of Scotland, allowed Katherine to develop, observe and immerse herself in her subject. Working mainly 'en plein air' provides inspiration and is the very essence of her creativity. Katherine's approach is rooted in developing a deeper sense of and connection to land, sea & the elements. Her work is frequently developed further by using alternative techniques in the studio.
