calum macfarlane barrow

Calum MacFarlane-Barrow was born in 1932 and brought up in the Highlands of Scotland and has, in fact, never lived elsewhere! From his early childhood he has always been fascinated by the sea and its ever-changing moods. He also has a great love and appreciation of the Scottish mountain scenery and his greatest delight is to be walking the glens or climbing ‘Munros’ (hills over 3000 ft).

Only in the year 2000 did he find time to take up painting seriously and now exhibits in Scotland and in the Iona House Gallery in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Many of his paintings have gone to clients overseas.

All his work, whether it be in oils or acrylic, is done by knife – stemming from an impromptu lesson given by the great Welsh artist, the late Sir Kyffin Williams, in 1965.
