bethan verity
Bethan Verity is an artist from Ardnamurchan who specialises in combining the printmaking technique of lithography with textile based art. A graduate of the University of Dundee, with a BA (hons) in Textiles, she is a passionate outdoor pursuits enthusiast and translates this love of the land into her work. Drawn to the ever changing colours of the west coast, she believes that, even on the wettest of days on the hill, you can find beauty. Her work begins in sketchbooks, taking direct inspiration from the colours and shapes of the landscape. Paper based prints are predominately waterless lithographs, which are then worked into with watercolour and pencil. Bethan’s textile based works are created through a particularly labour intensive process, where fabric is printed and steamed anywhere between 20 and 30 times, with many layers of colour applied and multiple screens used in any one design.
