ellis o'connor

Delighted to be introducing the wonderful Ellis O'Connor to our gallery. Since graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 2014, Ellis has been on a whirlwind of residencies, visual experiences and creative journeys from as far afield as the Artic circle to as close as the Small Isles.

Practicing in a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking and photography, Ellis aims for her work to engage its viewers in the relationship between human activity and environmental change.
Often working on large scales and building up layers of paint or ink which mimic geomorphic layers, she wishes to confront viewers with sublime imagery that may evoke a change in awareness or sense of individual responsibility for environmental issues.

Ellis hopes the drawings can serve as records of landscapes in flux, honoring the transition of them and inspiring our global community to take action for the future. By producing the art work she hopes it will give people a chance to connect with that landscape and respect the nature that is so wild around us, to then cultivate a deeper understanding and inspire others to make a difference.
